Lehi's faithfulness led to safety and more blessings

First thing Lehi did after leaving was give thanks

I like the juxtaposition of these 2 verses. Obviously he was a great orator, unto the confounding of Laman and Lemuel. Still, he dwelt in a tent.

Nephi's first recorded action was to pray to know the mysteries of God. This only after his father confounded Laman and Lemuel. Because of this prayer the Lord visited him and softened his heart. Wait, so Nephi's heart was hard? It had to be, if it was softened. I don't think Nephi was like Laman and Lemuel. But maybe, just maybe he was quietly upset that his father took them into the wilderness.

17-18
Nephi's first action after having his heart softened was to share his testimony with Sam, Laman and Lemuel. After L&L would not hearken, Nephi cried unto the Lord for them. Proof of Nephi's true conversion. He prayed for others.

19-24
Nephi's prayer for L&L led to him receiving this great blessing.
